Specify the four thermal inputs
A useful supplier inquiry includes entering water temperature, leaving water temperature, circulating flow and the site’s design wet-bulb temperature. Omitting one can force a supplier to assume conditions that do not match your application. Confirm units and identify whether the fluid is water or a mixture.
Understand range and approach
Range is the temperature drop across the tower. Approach is the leaving water temperature minus ambient wet-bulb temperature. A smaller approach is a more demanding selection. The calculator rejects a leaving temperature at or below the wet-bulb because it is not a feasible conventional evaporative selection.
Compare complete proposals
Thermal duty is only one part of procurement. Compare fan power, noise, access, drift control, corrosion resistance, water treatment and the available space. Ask each supplier to quote against the same design conditions and identify installation work excluded from the equipment price.
